Manus Bio is a next-generation industrial biotechnology company that uses advanced fermentation technology to produce plant-based ingredients.  We use a variety of patented and proprietary technologies for engineering microbes for the production of specialty chemicals, such as food ingredients, agricultural chemicals, and pharmaceuticals.  We are seeking a motivated individual for an Analytical Scientist position to be based in our manufacturing facility in Augusta, GA. This person will be expected to tackle a variety of challenges as an integral part of Manus Bio’s team.


  • Develop and optimize analytical methods for the characterization and quantification of natural product secondary metabolites, intracellular/extracellular metabolites, and proteins
  • Assist the research, process development and manufacturing teams in data acquisition, processing and analysis.  This position will play a key role in coordinating analytical requirements between various functional teams.
  • Ensure that our state-of-the-art analytical facilities and equipment (GC-MS/FID, LC- QQQ/Q-TOF, HPLC) are well-maintained and functioning efficiently

 Required Qualifications:

  • M.S./PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or similar field
  • 3-5 years experience in operations, maintenance and hand-on use of analytical equipment (GC-MS/FID, LC-MS and HPLC), including data processing using ChemStation, MassHunter, and Optimizer
  • Experience with method development, transfer, qualification and validation
  • Familiarity with GMP requirements and regulations, PCR, spectroscopy (UV, fluorescence, FTIR), mass spectrometry (e.g. ICP-MS), and particle analysis
  • Experience in R programming/Python for statistical data analysis is a plus

  • Should be flexible with day-to-day duties and able to thrive in a start-up environment.
  • Must be an excellent team member with strong communication skills and a desire to work collaboratively.
